13.may.2006 _ hebron (2)

there is something very inhuman about this place... one sort of people live above another another sort... this would be fine if the separation wasn't so obivous. if they were true neighbors. but here, there is no such word.

as you go down the hill and leave the settlers area and go to the old arab market... you feel watched. the towers are everywhere surrounding you like you are an enemy just by breathing, just by the fact that we had crossed the border between Jews and Arabs, we were scum... i prefer to be scum. you wonder why they even had to cover the Arab streets, still with few people that walk here... if the Jews didn't want to see the "animals" why didn't they just cover it up with dark covers, or throw them out? ah! that's the idea... the more you humiliate, the more effect you have... so the nets aren't an idea from the Jews... they are a protection. the Arabs underneath had to protect themselves from the trash!
as you walk through this "hell on earth", "concentration camp" called it what you will... the nets are fuller and fuller of trash.
the people from "above" (they wish!) just like to throw anything down on their "terrorists". we saw things from paper wrappers, plastic, cans, very dirty diapers, rotten food, dead animals, bottles, old clothes...

the frustration when the neighbors from above ask you "are you here to spy on us? are you going to help these bastards? we don't need the european union!"...

the smell while you hear the laughs of children from above...
the questions you have... your shock... your tears...

only this boy after following us for 40mins and telling my "sister-in-law" that i was beautiful... took my mind off of it... but i could see in his eyes everything that i couldn't explain.

silently i made a promise, that even if i was leaving their beautiful country the next day.. i would come back, and try harder... until then i would not stop searching for new information, history books, reports on this on-going ordeal...

3 israelian soldiers kidnapped in Lebannon??????????????????????? i don't think you deserve my pity anymore!

obrigada eu pela vossa companhia... saber que alguém lia o que escrevia já fez algo por esta causa. ainda há muito para fazer, mas se nunca abrirmos os olhos, nunca vamos perceber o quê!
