11.may.2006 _ jerusalem (1)
the white city. that is color that makes Jerusalem come alive.
it is definitely one of the most beautiful cities I have ever visited. the most alive. not obviously in our modern way of saying it, of course you don't see the "freedom" that you feel in places such as Barcelona or Amsterdam, but then again, freedom and "being alive" can be lived and felt in different ways.
and so here you do... the smell, color, light of Jerusalem makes you feel.
from inside the protected David Tower, the Old City looks out into the hills of the land of Jesus, and Allah. where religions hide and live amongst eachother, protecting their own values, beliefs, living proud of who they are but afraid of the one next door.
for those who have a religion, who have faith, be it in God, Allah or any other deity, here is the place you feel it the most... everywhere you go, you feel compelled to think about it, to question yourself and you're beliefs, it makes your own faith stronger, if not, it definitely makes you understand the need to cling onto something so strong... and if you have an open mind, Jerusalem is the place to discover new ways of believing... you just need to want to look.
